We are thrilled to announce our latest socialite to join our team, Alex Gamblin. As FMN Creative’s Digital Marketing Intern, Alex joined our team in May 2021 for the Summer. Despite living across the country in St. Louis, Missouri, Alex has taken a hands-on approach to joining our growing digital team. With an eye for digital design and passion for the fast paced industry, we were excited to sit down with Alex ahead of his internship to get his thoughts, and in true FMN fashion, the songs on his playlist!
Where are you going to college and what are you studying?
I’m going into my senior year at the University of Central Missouri in Warrensburg. (A long way from Utica, New York!) I’ll be graduating next year with a Bachelors of Science in Marketing.
What are your overall career goals?
My ultimate career goal is to combine my passions for music and marketing to help people. Marketing at its core is helping, and music at its best is healing. The day I discovered I could fuse these two together to make the world a better place was the day I knew I wanted to pursue marketing.
What brands inspire you?
Erin French and her restaurant The Lost Kitchen have tapped into a feeling we are all suckers for; home and hospitality. She’s paired that nostalgic feeling along with her inspiring life story she carries with her in all endeavors. Whether it’s her social media, TV show, or cookbook, her inspiring resilience sends a message that regardless of what life throws at us, we too, can overcome it.
Wendy’s is unbeatable when it comes to social media. They have managed to take engagement to new heights by making their posts funny, relatable, and viral worthy. My personal favorite tweet was in response to McDonald’s, “When the tweets are as broken as the ice cream machine.”
I never thought a call getting sent to voicemail would be something I’d never forget. Elasticity, an agency is St. Louis, gave me 3 solid options to get in touch; press 2 to speak to a team member, dial 867-5309 to speak to 80s legend Tommy Tutone, or if I was a telemarketer to hang up and never call again. This unique approach is not only memorable but effective.
Why do you want to intern at FMN?
When I was 4 years old, I was singing and dancing to a burned CD of Disney Channel music for my family. When I was in high school, I was playing trumpet in marching, concert, and jazz band. Now, in college, music is still a vital part of everything I do. I remember the day I was sitting in my very first marketing class and I had that lightbulb moment; I don’t have to choose between music and marketing! I can combine both into something even greater. I believe no one understands that same unique combination like FMN Creative. Thanks to the powers of the digital world, I’ve found not only a fantastic opportunity, but a group of creatives with a story that inspires me to continue pushing the boundaries of marketing.
